High Level Private Public Policy Dialogue on the status of East Africa Community integration on Investments and job creation

On Tuesday,19th, April 2022 PSFU through the Lead Firm Structure Project held a High-Level Private-Public Policy Dialogue on the status of East Africa Community integration on Investments and job creation under the theme: “The Status of East Africa Community integration process on investments and job creation” at Kampala Serena Hotel.

The dialogue was a half-day hybrid engagement attracting over 100 key members of the business community, young entrepreneurs, academia, media, and public officials to generate solutions to address the issues constraining the performance of the EAC and her implications for investments and job creation for Ugandans.

The event included; A keynote address on the status of the EAC and implications on investments and jobs was made by Dr. Ibrahim Kasirye, Economic Policy Research Centre, Two panels comprised of the experts from the field of Agro-industrialization, services, trade and manufacturing and public officials will be constituted that was moderated by Dr. Fred Muhumuza and Dr. Isaac Shinyekwa, who also contextualized the discussion towards job creation and fiscal discipline.

In addition to this, Mr. Ramathan Ggobi, Permanent - Secretary, Secretary of Treasury, Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development made a presentation concerning the Priorities in the National Budget Framework Paper 22/23 to support private sector competitiveness to participate in the EAC market.

The dialogue closed with Remarks from the Guest of Honor Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, Minister for Minister in Charge of East Africa Affairs on the position of Government in addressing the existing barriers to trade, investment, and job creation across the EAC market.
