Business Uganda Development Scheme Energy for Rural Transformation (BUDS-ERT) PDF Print E-mail

Managed by the Private Sector Foundation Uganda, BUDS-ERT is the private sector component of the ongoing Energy for Rural Transformation Project (ERT2).  ERT 2 is a Government of Uganda Project funded by the World Bank.  ERT 2 has been going on since December 2009 and is scheduled to end on 30th June 2016.

Supported Activities have included:


•    Electrical Energy Efficiency Improvement  for Industries
•    Early investment studies for mini hydro power development
•    Promotion of solar water heater uptake especially by the hospitality sector
•    Village pico hydro power development

UPCOMING

ERT 3

The Government of Uganda (GOU) has applied for Credit from the International Development Association (IDA) towards the cost of the third phase of the Energy for Rural Transformation Project (ERT3).

The following activities will be supported:

1.    The development of six community-based power generation schemes
2.    The scaling up the number of electrical workers and companies certified by the Electricity Regulatory Authority
3.    The organization and self regulation among solar pv business vendors

 

UGANDA CLEAN COOKING SUPPLY CHAIN EXPANSION PROJECT (UCSEP)

The World Bank proposes to provide a grant to the Government of Uganda from the Africa Renewable Energy and Access (AFREA) program of the World Bank which will be disbursed through the Uganda Clean Cooking Supply Chain Expansion Project (UCSEP).  Part of the grant will be used towards the Distribution Challenge Fund. The Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) is the designated grant administrator.
