PSFU and Heifer International Awarded the best performing Dairy Cooperatives 

PSFU and Heifer International awarded the best performing Dairy Cooperatives at the National Dairy Awards held on 7th December 2012 at Imperial Royal Hotel. The guest of honor was the First Lady of the Republic of Uganda and also the Minister for Karamoja affairs Mrs. Janet Kataha Museveni.

She promised Government support towards the dairy sector in Uganda. She argued guests and mostly dairy farmers to spare some milk for their homes and families so as to help in the fight against malnutrition.

A total number of 15 dairy cooperative emerged as winners and they all walked away with a certificate and a plaque while the overall winners won prizes ranging from milk cans, office equipment, motorcycles, and cash.    Two of these were women cooperatives and one was a youth cooperative. Each region in Uganda i.e. Western, Central, Northern and Eastern all had a dairy cooperative emerging as a winner. Prizes were also won by clusters and individuals.

The award dinner attracted over 300 guests including the First Lady of Uganda, Ministers, PSFU Members and Stakeholders, Chief Executive Officers (CE0s), Country Heads, Project Managers, Executive Directors, the media  among others.

The diary cooperatives present were informed about the available funding which they can take advantage of for the benefit of the diary cooperative development.
